Teaching Children to Read
The TCR program is designed for school-age children in kindergarten through 8th grade who are reading below their grade level. Each child is paired with a personal tutor and attends two 60-minute sessions per week. The tutoring uses the Stevenson Method, a structured and multisensory approach to teaching reading. A parent or guardian must remain on site during each session to support the child’s learning.

Adult Basic Literacy Education
ABLE is a program for adults in Clark County, 18 and older, who are reading below a sixth-grade level or need tutoring to prepare for the G.E.D. Youth ages 16-17 may also qualify with an official school release and work permit. Students work one-on-one with a tutor twice a week for 60-minute sessions and benefit from computer-assisted learning tools to build foundational literacy skills.

Pick-a-Pack
Pick-a-Pack is a literacy support program for children enrolled at The Literacy Center. It offers backpacks filled with books and educational activities that families can check out for one week at a time. While the backpacks themselves are returned, the children keep the contents to build their own home library and continue reading at home.
